Ben Snyder, Ph.D.

Applied Scientist - Deep Learning at Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Jay and I have worked together for about 8 months designing internal valuations tools at Capital One. During that time, Jay’s broad skills in statistics, machine learning, and dev ops have proved invaluable. I’ve been particularly struck by Jay’s ability to diagnose and correct complex issues in open source code. When we ran into an unusual null-pointer exception in Mesos Marathon, Jay put in several long nights to track down and correct the source of the bug. On top of this, Jay’s interests in distributed machine learning, especially Tensorflow, has been an enormous help to me and others in our department. Overall, Jay is an innovative thinker, and has been a tireless contributor to our team.

Bing Wu

Senior Consultant at CGI Federal

Jay was my colleague at CGI, and I was really impressed by his expertise in Big Data and Distributed Systems. He was the best in the team in providing the solutions, utilizing the technologies such as Spark and Scala. Jay was passionate about providing the right solutions to our customers. Jay was a quick learner, a innovator, and was a great asset to the team.

Changxing (Paul) Chen, Ph.D.

Data Scientist, Wells Fargo

Jay added a ton of value to the team by providing a vital computational infrastructure to our data-driven analytical solution in a way that is aligned with our objectives. He was very good at identifying opportunities to make the computing platform better, more robust and easier to use for the end users. Jay's good communication skills enabled him to effectively communicate his ideas across the organization and to drive conversations with partners and stakeholders. During the period of close work relationship with Jay, I also found him to be very open and willing to share knowledge with team members with less technical background in a easy-to-understand manner. Jay has shown great responsiveness to requests for support from partners and end users, and has demonstrated a strong willingness to get things done. Despite being in a position that required a high degree of technical know-how, I found Jay to be fun and very easy to work with.

David Nigh

Principal at Kepler LLC

I had the pleasure of working with Jay at CGI on a large systems transition project. We collaborated with the customer successfully, despite often being bound by vague requirements. Jay is one of the more methodical, competent, and articulate engineers I've come across. I enjoyed working with Jay, and would highly recommend him as a teammate.

Eric Forseter

Principal, Federal Sales at Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Jay is an extremely talented Engineer. He has great vision in terms of solving big IT and system problems. Jay is a visionary and thinks about not only the present but the future for products and roadmaps. He puts his all into his work and is gives extra hours to everything he does. It was a pleasure working with Jay and he'll be an asset to any organization.

Hao Huang

Director - Data Science at Capital One

Jay has deep engineering skills in developing applications with DC/OS, Spark . He shows strong commitment in delivering solutions using recent advancements in open source technologies

Laurent Zazzera

IT Project Manager at Sierra7, Inc.

I had the pleasure of working with Jay on a large and complex project for the USPTO from 2013 to 2016. I was managing the project on behalf of the government and Jay was on the software development team. In addition to developing code, Jay was rather instrumental in a couple of technical decisions. With his expertise on AppDynamics, Solr and Spark (to name a few), he was able to provide sound advice and proposals that enabled our management to make decisions.

Jay is always pleasant and professional. He will not shy away from providing his input when it is relevant in a meeting. We have all seen people "participate" in meetings by just being there and not saying anything. Jay is not like that. If he has something to contribute, he will. And I can't remember of any instance where I thought that his input was not welcomed. It's always on point.

In short, Jay is a very valuable team member and any organization would benefit from having him on board.

Ram Venkat

CTO, Solutions Architect - Big Data, Enterprise Search

Jay worked with me at US Patent & Trademark Office in the EST project, which is the next generation patent search application for US patent examiners. Jay created innovative solutions for the project. He was the team lead for the system's indexing application, which is written in Scala for Apache Spark. He leveraged the distributed architectures of Apache Cassandra and SolrCloud to optimize the indexer's performance.

Tim Cullen, J.D.

Senior Lead Associate / Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton

Jay is one of the most thorough, thoughtful and knowledgeable developers I have encountered in my eighteen years in the field. During our time together at Greystones, Jay was able quickly become expert in a content management framework and it was clear that this is something—picking up a new language, framework, or computing paradigm—that Jay can do with ease. He was a pleasure to work with, a patient colleague, and a remarkably skilled full-stack developer.

Tim Marcinowski

Founder, YetiCloud

I had the pleasure of working with Jay at Capital One. Jay, really understands the emerging technology space within data analytics and stream processing using modern container infrastructure. I learned the possibilities of using data intensive systems to better drive model training and deployment. One of the few people in my career I’ve met that wants to do the right thing based on technology performance. I find this rare in the field as most shops will pick technology and products based around teams, skill sets and other motives.
